How to prepare for your Fashion or Boudoir session

Wardrobe Planning

  • Start by looking at your own closet first for options you feel may make you look your best
  • You can consult with your photographer as well as look on Pinterest/Instagram for ideas (please share your ideas and vision with your photographer in advance of your session or have your photographer help guide you). It is IMPORTANT that you & your photographer have a clear vision of the style/look pre-planned for the session
  • We suggest layering items so that you can remove an item for a different look
  • Bring multiple accessories to help help complete your look (bracelets, necklaces, scarfs, earrings, hats, etc.)
  • If ordering clothes online, please make sure shipping dates are well in advance of your session to provide time to try on, make alterations, or find alternate options as needed.
  • Plan an outfit of loose fitting comfortable clothes without bra & underwear to avoid creating skin impressions during your hair and makeup and traveling to your session location
  • Wear clear deodorant
  • Bring 1 pair each of white, black, & nude underwear and bra
  • 1 pair of black & 1 pair of nude heels
  • All wardrobe options should be pressed & wrinkle free and ready to go prior to arrival.

Hair & Makeup

  • If using a hair & makeup artist, make sure to schedule 3-4 hours prior to your departure to session if not being done in our studio. Please be sure to allow for travel & traffic and be on time for your session, consult with your hair & makeup artist on approximate length of time to complete your look.
  • If you are planning an updo, make sure your hair is securely pinned in place
  • Avoid shimmer on face other than eyes
  • Please wear false eyelashes
  • Please be sure to communicate with both your photographer & makeup artist on look you are trying to accomplish (natural, dramatic, smoky eyes, big curls, etc.)
  • Bring an extra lipstick with you for lipstick touchups

Preparing your mind, body, and skin

  • Drink lots of water (recommended: at least 1 gallon a day if possible, 1 week leading into session)
  • Lower your salt intake to avoid water retention
  • Avoid alcohol 3 days prior
  • Stretch, Stretch, Stretch
  • Do a Salt scrub in the shower and a moisturizer when getting out (it just also feels amazing!)
  • No Self Tanner or Spray Tans!!!
  • If planning to wax, please do so 1 week prior
  • Treat yourself to a mani-pedi so your hands and feet look their best
  • Get lots of rest!
  • Get Excited, We are going to have a lot of fun!!!
